So...it will soon be time for the BAFTA Awards Ceremony 2012 with Leading Actress Nominees including; Berenice Bejo (The Artist), Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn) and Viola Davis (The Help). However, here at Lally’s Closet, it is Meryl Streep who played Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady that we are rooting for! This extraordinary film takes a look at the life of a very determined woman who managed to break through the boundaries of gender and class in order to be heard in a patriarchal society as the first female Prime Minister. Now, although we loved the film and everything it stood for...it is the 1980’s wardrobe that really caught our attention! As obvious vintage lovers we marvelled at the various outfits and accessories that Meryl Streep wore throughout the movie. From the famous blue wool suit to the gorgeous jewellery and array of hats – Meryl Streep took us on a journey of masculine-chic from the late 70’s to the very early 90’s. With Lally’s Closet being inspired by 1970’s and 1980’s vintage fashion...you too could create “The Iron Lady” look and show a little girl power!
